East germans are a prime example how things like this is often not just some form of Racism, they aren't underrepresented because they are black or muslim, they are just underrepresented because they came late to the party and everything was already established without them. Also, the bavarian exceptionalist imo is just sad. Bavaria was poor, to a point where it was one of if not the worst place to live in west germany, so places like North Rhine Westfalia (the state that is poor now because all of the industry has been closed down) was sending Bavaria tons of money to build up their wealth, and the second the Bavarians got wealthy they acted like they did it all by themselves and have no obligation to help other german states. 28:33 Whelp this is out of date a few weeks later

I was about to give a thumbs down because as a German interested in politics I found this video lacking in knowledge and too generalized and in a perspective mostly recent politics… I don’t want to be too harsh I think it’s perfectly fine to be watched for entertainment purposes 😊

To the topic of "haven't we heard enough" I see the point, to an extend. I remember back then in school we had a full year of History class with just Holocaust and Hitler, not even the war really. After a while, the shock factor was just gone and people didn't care anymore. Sounds crazy but it's the sad truth. You should do what's nessecary to keep Germans from taking part in such actions again, but that shouldn't mean we can't just accept some times that we are currently far away from that

As a German I think the migrational background does not matter when it comes to politics here because we don't really do identity politics. Luckily we differentiate between political opinion and identity. Most people don't identify with a particular party but will vote for different parties and candidates throughout their lives. We also don't really care about the private lives of politicians as long as they don't do anything criminal. A German politician says "this is what my opinion is and this is what I think is right" and barely ever (unlike in other countries) follows that up with a "because I am *insert age, religion, ethnic group, gender, etc.*". It's not something we do here and let's hope we won't start doing that because judging by other countries that does not seem to lead to any fruitful discussions ever 😅

About “conspiracy theorists” and “Reichsbürgers” to be exact. We have those in Russia too, however they are thinking that USSR still exists on paper due to disbelief in some paperwork from 1991 when the dissolution happened. They have their own communities, have huge beef with police, showing them Soviet passports, arguing about the existence of USSR and blah blah blah. (By the way those communities mentioned before they actually sell certificates which say that you are officially have Soviet citizenship, while in really it’s worth nothing)

Man, even German conspiracy theorists are more organized. Here in the US our 'sovereign citizens' can never seem to figure out what they want to believe - and change it every couple minutes to suit whatever specific issue they're facing at the time.

I fully agree that this is indeed a great distraction from real politics because the tool just looks up the answers to a set of questions in the election programs and in reality you can write there whatever you wish without any consequences because we never have a one-partie-government and not complying to your plans can therefore always be excused by compromise within a coalition government.

I would say party soldier was represented wrong. Party Members are people of a certain party, who are highly politicised and have a strong preference. Party soldiers are similar, but will defent their party to the last second and in every single topic. They don't realy criticise their party ever. Their mostly in bigger party's (CDU, SPD, Greens, FDP) I would say. Party Members are different in the way that they in general don't support their t party in every situation and can criticise it. The Left (the party) often fights with itself and Members of that party often criticise their leadership. Some even vote for different partys, because they feal betrayed by their party or because another party is doing the thing they want better

7:29 I find it very interesting, because on one hand we have these super conservative people in Bavaria and on the other my generation (people around 18) are mostly against that. I mean look at the anti right protest in Munich that was expecting like 100.000 people but got 300.000 instead. You don't need to climb the ranks if you join Volt. You just need to be motivated, be a nice person and broadly align with our values. One of the first things I was asked was if strive to be a candidate in the future (I was 18, when I joined BTW, in other parties I'd probably have to wait for another 18 years before I get out of the youth organizations and actually get heard by the other party members). I am pretty sure it's a similar story for other parties when regarding more local politics.

the GDRs economy did not "crash and fail", it was stripped and dismantled entirely. it wasn't even in any kind of debt that would cause any serious issues, the west german economy is in a worse shape right now than the GDR has ever been. you're really not educated on that topic and are just throwing around myths you picked up without investigating them.

Those who go onto FFF protests are actually no climate doomers. Climate doomers are those who say that we shouldn't do anything about climate change because we allegedly don't have the power to change it. Actually some studies actually have shown, that nowadays the advocates for green politics tend to be more optimistic regarding the future of climate change than the voters of other parties
